Barbara Endicott-Popovsky

Barbara hols the post of Director for the Center of Information Assurance and Cybersecurity at the University of Washington, an NSA/DHS Center for Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education and Research, Academic Director for the Masters in Infrastructure Planning and Management in the Urban Planning/School of Built Environments and holds an appointment as Research Associate Professor with the Information School. Her academic career follows a 20-year career in industry marked by executive and consulting positions in IT architecture and project management. Barbara earned her Ph.D. in Computer Science/Computer Security from the University of Idaho (2007), and holds a Masters of Science in Information Systems Engineering from Seattle Pacific University (1987), a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Washington (1985).

Volodymyr Lysenko
Volodymyr Lysenko is a graduate of the Ph.D. program in Information Science at the Information School of the University of Washington, Seattle. He also has a degree in Physics. Volodymyr’s research interests are in the area of political cyberprotests and cyberwars in the international context."

Kirk Bailey

Prior to his appointment as the first CISO for the University of Washington in 2005, Mr. Bailey served as the first ever CISO for the City of Seattle. His long career as an information assurance professional has included accountability for cyber-security programs in healthcare, banking, financial services, local government and higher education.  In response to growing concerns by professionals in the field regarding the troubling challenges posed by emerging technologies, Mr. Bailey founded “The Agora” in November of 1995.  The Agora is a successful strategic association of information systems security professionals, technical experts, researchers, and officials from the public and private sectors.

Eneken Tikk-Ringas

Eneken recently joined Toronto University Munk School of International Affairs as a research fellow. 2006-2011 she worked as the legal adviser and later the head of the legal and policy branch for the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence in Tallinn. She has practiced IT&Law as an attorney and as a legal adviser for several Estonian authorities and lectured in the field of international law and law of armed conflict, IT&Law and cyber security law at universities and colleges in Estonia, Sweden and the United States. She holds her PhD from Tartu University



 


Dr. Natarajan Vijayarangan
Natarajan is a senior scientist at Tata Consultancy Services. He obtained his Ph.D (Mathematics) in the year of 2001 at RIASM, University of Madras, India. He has received 'Best Research Paper Award' of Ramanujan Mathematical Society in 2000. He has published patents, papers and books in the fields of Information Security, Mobile computing and Applied Mathematics. He has participated in NIST SHA-3 competition and received 'AIP Anchor Award' from TCS for his contribution on Academia Industry relationship. He also received Distinguished Lecture Award 2010 from Los Andes University, Venezuela and TCS Patent Champion 2010 award. He contributed to Record Holders Republic by showing 660 ft long Indian national flag with a concept of Real Number System. He is an active member of ICIW and ECIW.

Prof Daniel J. Ryan
Dan teaches courses in cyberlaw and information assurance at the National Defense University. Before entering academia, he served in the public sector as Executive Assistant to the Director of Central Intelligence after earlier serving as Director of Information Systems Security for the Office of the Secretary of Defense. In the private sector, he has served as a Corporate Vice President of Science Applications International Corporation, and served in earlier executive roles at Booz Allen & Hamilton, Bolt Beranek & Newman, TRW, and Hughes Aircraft Company.  He began his career as a cryptologic mathematician at the National Security Agency.

Juan Lopez Jr

Juan is a research engineer with the Center for Cyberspace Research at the Air Force Institute of Technology. He conducts research in Critical Infrastructure Protection, RFID, and EMI modeling of 4G wireless systems. Mr. Lopez is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Computer Science at the Air Force Institute of Technology. His academic resume includes a Bachelor of Science from the University of Maryland, a Master of Science from Capitol College, and a Master of Science from the Air Force Institute of Technology. He has performed research and worked extensively with the Command and Control Systems School in Quantico, Virginia, SANS Institute, Joint Task Force 6 supporting Counter Drug Operations, the G-8 Summit for President Clinton, and the Defense Information Systems Agency.

Dr Dan Shoemaker
Dan is a professor and the Chair of the Department of Computer and Information Systems at the University of Detroit Mercy (UDM). He also oversees the Information Assurance Program, a National Security Agency (NSA) Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education at UDM. His Ph.D. is from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and he has held various professional IS roles at that institution, as well as at Michigan State University. Serving as an expert panelist on three national working groups within the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity Division, Dan is an author and one of the three domain editors for the Software Assurance Common Body of Knowledge. He also serves on the Assurance Business Case Working Group and the Workforce Education and Training Working Group. He founded the International Cybersecurity Education Coalition (ICSEC), connecting higher education institutions located in Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana. ICSEC’s mission is to exceed and support the teaching of standard information assurance curricula within the Midwest. Dan is currently
Co-Chair of the Software Assurance Training and Education working group at DHS. His two books on cybersecurity are used in colleges across the country and he writes extensively about cybersecurity.

Col Ronald C Dodge
COL Dodge has served for over 23 years as an Aviation officer and is a member of the Army Acquisition Corps in the United States Army. Currently he is an Associate Professor permanently stationed at the United States Military Academy and the Associate Dean for Information and Education Technology. His military assignments range from duties in an attack helicopter battalion during Operation Just Cause in the Republic of Panama to the United States Military Academy. Ron received his Ph.D. from George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia in Computer Science. His current research focuses are information warfare, network deception, security protocols, internet technologies, and performance planning and capacity management. He is a frequent speaker at national and international IA conferences and has published many papers and articles on information assurance topics.

Dr Andrew Jones

Andy has a background that encompasses the military, defence research, academia and the telecommunications industry. He has been a researcher and analyst in the area of Information Warfare and computer crime and was a principal lecturer at the University of Glamorgan on Network Security and Computer Crime and researched the areas of Threats to Information Systems and Computer Forensics. He developed and managed a Computer Forensics Laboratory and led computer investigations and data recovery tasks. He holds a Ph.D. on threats to information systems. After this he joined the Security Research Centre at BT and was a Chief Researcher and the head of information security research. He is currently the Programme Chair for the MSc. in Information Security at Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research in Sharjah, UAE, and holds a post as an adjunct professor at Edith Cowan University in Perth, Australia. He has written five books on topics including Information Warfare, Risk management and Digital forensics and Cyber Crime.

Dr. Julie Ryan
Julie currently teaches and directs research in Information Assurance at The George Washington University.  Prior to joining academia, she worked in various positions in industry and government.  Her degrees are from the US Air Force Academy, Eastern Michigan University, and The George Washington University.

Dr Edwin “Leigh” Armistead
Leigh is the Director of Business Development for Goldbelt Hawk LLC, the Programme Chair for the International Conference of Information Warfare and an Adjunct Lecturer for Edith Cowen University in Perth, Australia.  He has written nine books, 18 journal articles, presented 17 academic papers and served as a Chairman for 16 professional and academic conferences.  Formerly a Master Faculty at the Joint Forces Staff College, Leigh received his PhD from Edith Cowan University with an emphasis on Information Operations.  He also serves as a Co-Editor for the Journal of International Warfare, and the Editorial Review Board for European Conference on Information Warfare.

Dr. Michael R. Grimaila

Michael is an associate professor and a member of the Center for Cyberspace Research at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, USA.  He is a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP), and holds NSA IAM/IEM certifications.  He teaches and conducts research in the areas of information assurance, information warfare, and information operations.  Dr. Grimaila serves as an Editorial Board member of the Information System Security Association (ISSA) Journal and has served on the DoD/NII IA Best Practices and Metrics Working Groups.  He is a member of the ACM, IRMA, ISACA, ISC2, ISSA, ISSEA, and is a senior member of the IEEE. Michael holds a BS, Electrical Engineering; MS, Electrical Engineering; and PhD, Computer Engineering, all from Texas A&M University, USA

Renier van Heerden

Renier
is a senior researcher at Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in Pretoria, South Africa in the field of Information Warfare. Prior to joining the CSIR he worked as a software engineer in advanced optics applications for South African based Denel Optronics and as a Lecturer at the University of Pretoria.

Renier obtained a degree in Electronic Engineering and a Masters in Computer Engineering at the University of Pretoria.

Dr William Mahoney

William (Bill) Mahoney received his B.A. and B.S. degrees from Southern Illinois University, and his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Nebraska. He is a Research Fellow and Graduate Faculty at the University of Nebraska at Omaha Peter Kiewit Institute. His primary research interests include compilers, hardware and instruction set design, and VLSI. Prior to the Kiewit Institute Dr. Mahoney worked for 20+ years in the computer design industry, specifically in the areas of embedded computing and real-time operating systems. During this time he was also on the part time faculty of the University of Nebraska at Omaha.  His outside interests include bicycling, photography, and more bicycling.

Dan Kuehl

Dan has taught at the National Defense University (NDU) since April 1994.  He is the director of the Information Strategies Concentration Program (ISCP), a specialized curriculum on the information component of national power offered to students attending the National War College and Industrial College of the Armed Forces.  He develops and presents graduate offerings on strategic approaches to Information Warfare & Operations (IW/IO) including information assurance & critical infrastructure protection, military doctrine for IO, intelligence support requirements, and strategic communication/national information policy issues to senior US military officers, federal government civilian officials, and International Fellows attending the University. His courses include "National Security in the Information Age”, the foundational course of the ISCP, which introduces students to the key aspects of information and national security; and “Information Engagement and National Power”, which concentrates on public diplomacy and strategic communication in national security and international affairs.  A retired Lieutenant Colonel in the USAF, Dr. Kuehl had nearly 22 years of active service, including assignments as an ICBM crewmember/staff officer, nuclear planner, and airpower doctrine developer.  Dr. Kuehl holds a PhD in Military History from Duke University and was a founding faculty member of NDU’s School of Information Warfare and Strategy in 1994.  He lectures across the DOD, academia and internationally on IO and related strategic issues, his primary areas of interest are US and international information operations and warfare, information assurance, and national information policy/strategic communications.
