The conference brings together varied groups of people with different perspectives, experiences and knowledge in one location. It aims to help practitioners find ways of putting research into practice and researchers to gain an understanding of real-world problems, needs and aspirations. In its 6th year, the conference will be held in Montreal, Canada. Situated on an island in the middle of the St.Lawrence river, Montreal is a city of contrasts with French and English quarters, ancient and modern buildings. The city is known for its vibrant cultural life. And autumn is an ideal season for tourism as temperatures are mild, and colour changing leaves abound. Montreal has a lot to offer for the visitors. Excellent public transportation with subway and buses enables the visitor to move across the city with ease. The Olympic Stadium, Biosphere, Insectarium and the renowned underground city are unique points of interest, one bus or a short cab ride away. Many museums are also easily accessible. Montreal is a cosmopolitan city that exemplifies the Canadian cultural mosaic. It has the distinction of being the 2nd largest French speaking city in the world. The capital of Canada, Ottawa is only 2 hours away by car or bus. Montreal is about 2.5 hour drive from the beautiful historical Québec City, capital of the province and the last remaining walled city in North America which celebrated it’s 400 anniversary in 2008. Founded in 1821, McGill University is an institution of higher education with 11 Faculties and 10 Schools and over 300 programs of study offered to the 33,000 strong student body. With students coming to McGill from about 160 countries, our student body is the most internationally diverse of any medical-doctoral university in Canada. The School of Information Studies at McGill offers a variety of programmes within the knowledge management domain. Situated in down-town Montreal, McGill looks forward to welcoming participants from all over the world and I hope that you will be able to join us for ICICKM 2009.
