| Dr Henrique Santos Henrique is an Associate Professor in the department of Information Systems at the University of Minho in Guimarães, Portugal. He lectures on Computer architecture, Information system security and computer programming. His research interests include security models, security policies and security evaluation issues. Public Key Infrastructures and its applications are also a central topic of interest. He is the Director of the Algoritmi research centre at the University. |  Henrique Santos |
| Colonel Fernando Freire Fernando is an Military Professor in the Department of Exact and Natural Sciences at the Military Academy in Lisbon, Portugal. He lectures on Operational Research, Information, Uncertainty and Risk and Decision Theory and Management. His research interests include support decision, uncertainty, knowledge management and information warfare, in general. He is one of the coordinators of Posgraduate Studies on Information Warfare/Competitive Intelligence. Fernando holds a Master of Science degree. |  Fernando Freire |
| Dr Sérgio Tenreiro de Magalhães Sérgio teaches IT Project, Computer Architecture and Information Security related topics in the Universidade Católica Portuguesa. He is also a member of the Knowledge and Information Systems and Services research group in the Algoritmi Research Centre of the University of Minho. Sérgio has also collaborated as a manager and as a consultant with several organizations and he has also participated in the development of the National Science and Technology Platform for the Ministry of Science and Technology and in the National Defence Ministry’s project Security in the Digital Data Distribution Network for the Armed Forces. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Electronic Security and Digital Forensics and reviewer of the IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man and Cybernetics – Part C: Applications and Reviews. | Dr Paulo Veríssimo Paulo Veríssimo is currently a professor of the Department of Informatics (DI) of the University of Lisboa Faculty of Sciences (http://www.di.fc.ul.pt/~pjv), and Director of LASIGE, a research laboratory of the DI (http://lasige.di.fc.ul.pt). He is Fellow of the IEEE. He is associate editor of the Elsevier Int’l Journal on Critical Infrastructure Protection, and past associate editor of the IEEE Tacs. on Dependable and Secure Computing. He belonged to the European Security & Dependability Advisory Board. He is past Chair of the IEEE Technical Committee on Fault Tolerant Computing and of the Steering Committee of the DSN conference, and belonged to the Executive Board of the CaberNet European Network of Excellence. He was coordinator of the CORTEX IST/FET project (http://cortex.di.fc.ul.pt). Paulo Veríssimo leads the Navigators research group of LASIGE, and is currently interested in: architecture, middleware and protocols for distributed, pervasive and embedded systems, in the facets of real-time adaptability and fault/intrusion tolerance. | Rear-Admiral António Marques António joined the Navy in 1976. After a tour on board frigates and patrol boats as Navigation Officer and Executive Officer, he attended the Communications Specialization Course in the Navy followed by a MSEE degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering which he has attended in the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, between 1984 and 1987. Returning to Portugal, he was involved in the Vasco da Gama Class Frigates project, namely in the development and maintenance of the frigate’s Combat System, and has lead several IT projects in the Portuguese Navy. In 2003 he attended the NATO Defence College course and from 2004 to 2007 he was the Portuguese Navy counsellor to Portugal’s Ambassador to NATO where he was the Portuguese permanent representative to the NATO C3 Board. After returning to Portugal, he attended the Flag Officer’s Course in the National Defence College and was promoted to the current rank in November of 2008. He currently leads the IT directorate of the Portuguese Navy. |  António Marques |
| Captain João Ribeiro João joined the Navy in 1981. He attended the Communications Specialization Course and served as Principal Warfare Officer on board frigates NRP Cte Hermenegildo Capelo and NRP Álvares Cabral and as Executive Officier of frigate NRP Vasco da Gama. Meanwhile, he served as staff officer of the Portuguese Naval and Joint Task Groups, as well as NATO Standing Naval Force Atlantic. He has been involved in several real world operations, namely, Embargo Operations to Former Yugoslavia, Non-Combatant Evacuation in Republic of Guinea-Bissau, and Global War on Terrorism. He served ashore as Director of Navy Communications School, Staff Officer for Navy Staff CIS Division, Public Affairs Officer and Navy Spokesman to the Chief of Navy Staff Private Office, Staff Officer for Joint Staff CIS Division and National Liaison Representative to Supreme Allied Commander Transformation and the United States Joint Forces Command . Currently he serves as Head of Operations Division in the Navy Staff. He is chairman of NATO Ad-hoc Working Group for Maritime Force Protection, and Navy’s representative to the National Maritime Coordination Center. |  João Ribeiro |

Professor, major G.S., Aki Huhtinen, PhD. is Docent of practical philosophy in the University of Helsinki and Docent of social consequences of media and information technology in the University of Lapland. | Dr Jari Rantapelkonen Lieutenant Colonel Jari Rantapelkonen has graduated from the Finnish Military Academy in 1987. LtCol Rantapelkonen holds a doctor of science (military) degree from the National Defence University. He has also graduated from the University of Helsinki holding a licentiate of political science in international affairs. His current assignment is a Commanding Officer for the C4 School. LTC Rantapelkonen has published widely writing books and articles on the philosophy of military science, leadership, information warfare, operations and tactics. |  Jari Rantapelkonen |
| Professor Steven Furnell Steven Furnell is the head of the Network Research Group at the University of Plymouth in the United Kingdom, and an Adjunct Associate Professor with Edith Cowan University in Western Australia. He specialises in computer security and has been actively researching in the area for fourteen years, with current areas of interest including security management, computer crime, user authentication, and security usability. Prof. Furnell is a Fellow and Branch Chair of the British Computer Society (BCS), a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and a UK representative in International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) working groups relating to Information Security Management (of which he is the current chair), Network Security, and Information Security Education. He is the author of over 160 papers in refereed international journals and conference proceedings, as well as the books Cybercrime: Vandalizing the Information Society (2001) and Computer Insecurity: Risking the System (2005). | Debi Ashenden Debi is a Senior Research Fellow within the Defence College of Management and Technology at Cranfield University. Prior to taking up this post she was a Managing Consultant within QinetiQ’s Trusted Information Management Department (formerly the Defence Evaluation Research Agency). Specialising in information assurance in general, and risk assessment in particular, other specific areas of interest include building trust for information sharing, governance processes for information assurance and information security awareness. Debi has worked extensively across government, defence and the finance sector as a consultant and her work concentrates on understanding the role of individuals in ensuring that security risks are mitigated. Debi has had a number of articles on information security published, presented at a range of conferences and has co-authored a book for Butterworth Heinemann ‘Risk Management for Computer Security: Protecting Your Network & Information Assets’. | Dr Andy Jones Andy Jones has a background in Military intelligence and security research. After completing military service he ran the UK defence research IW group before moving to University to lecture on the subject and to the British Telecommunications Security Research Labs where he continues to carry out research in the area. | Tim Parsons Tim is a Senior Manager at Detica, working in the area of Business Resilience. Prior to this position he was Head of Information and Security Systems within the Strategic Business Development group at BAE SYSTEMS Farnborough. Tim has a specific interest in the business and enterprise impact of Information Management issues, Information Assurance and emerging trends across a range of ICT areas. Tim has contributed widely to initiatives across UK Government and to the definition and progression of NATO and EU research programmes in these areas. He has presented internationally in the areas of Information Assurance and Critical Information Infrastructure Protection. Tim is a Chartered Information Technology Professional, a Fellow of the British Computer Society and a member of the Institute of Directors. |  Tim Parsons |
