Conference Chair:
Maja Pivec, FH JOANNEUM University of Applied Science, Graz, Austria
Programme Co-Chairs:     Thomas Connolly and Mark Stansfield, University of the West of Scotland, UK

This is the 3rd year of the conference and it will be hosted by FH JOANNEUM University of Applied Sciences in Graz, Austria. Graz has had a university since 1585, so has a long tradition as a student city with nearly 10% of it’s population being students. The city is the second largest in Austria, after Vienna, and is the capital of the Austrian State of Styria.

Established in 1995 and awarded full university status in 2007, FH JOANNEUM has grown from an initial four degree programmes to offering over 30 degree programmes in four main areas; Health Sciences, Information, Design & Technologies, International Business and Live: Building Environment. It is considered to be one of the leading universities of applied sciences in Austria and operates on three campuses; Graz, Kapfenberg and Bad Gleichenberg.

The conference will address elements of both theory and practice of all aspects of Games-Based Learning, and offers an opportunity for academics, practitioners and consultants involved in the field to exchange ideas. The programme for the event will include an extensive range of peer-reviewed papers, including keynote presentations from leaders in the field.

We hope you find the conference a great experience and we warmly encourage you to join us at ECGBL 2009!

Conference Status

The review process is now underway. A preliminary programme will be posted by the end of June. In the meantime, you can find details of the titles and authors of abstracts selected for full review on the abstracts selected page.

Note to Authors: Due to the large number of papers expected for this conference, the committee only allows an author to present one paper. Therefore if multiple papers are accepted for presentation different co-authors need to present each paper. Author registration must be completed by 7 September 2009.

Proceedings for previous ECGBL conferences can be purchased from our bookshop by clicking on the Purchase Proceedings button.
