It is of the outmost pleasure to host the 11th Annual ECEG Conference at Faculty for Administration in Ljubljana from 16-17 June 2011.

As a relatively young independent state Slovenia had the opportunity to thoroughly revise its public governance. Thus make it possible to follow the rapidly evolving field of e-government and e-governance almost on-line. The University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Administration played a leading role in the reforms, providing theoretical as well as practical platform.

The Faculty of Administration is one of the youngest members of the University of Ljubljana as a fully faculty, but is actually an institution with a long tradition, its beginnings going back to 1956 when the School of Public Administration was established. Today it is a source of interdisciplinary knowledge for public and business administration and offers education in line with demanding international standards. It is the only faculty in Slovenia with a Level II European accredited programme in Administration and the accreditation of our Level I programme in Administration is well underway. The Faculty of Administration also has a strong tradition of continuing professional development (CPD) and executive education at the national level for those already working.

We already established a reputation in Europe and around the world as an institution playing a major role in the development of public administration in Slovenia. We plan not only to maintain this role, but strengthen it and build on it.

Ljubljana is certainly a city with a high quality of life, its numerous restaurants and inns offer a wide range of local delicacies, not to mention superb wines. The vicinity of Adriatic seaside and numerous spa resorts makes it an unforgettable place to visit, enjoy and live in.

We hope that you will be able to join us at ECEG 2011 and we look forward to welcoming you to Ljubljana.
