| University information | The University of Limerick (UL) is an independent, internationally focused university with over 10,600 students and 1,286 staff. It is a young, energetic and enterprising university with a proud record of innovation in education and excellence in research and scholarship. The University is situated on a superb riverside campus of over 132 hectares with the River Shannon as a unifying focal point. The campus offers fishing and attractive riverside walks through spectacular scenery. The recreational, cultural and sporting facilities further enhance this exceptional learning and working environment. The University of Limerick campus is located 5km from Limerick City and 20km from Shannon International Airport.
Adjacent to the University is the National Technological Park (NTP), Ireland’s first science/technology park (263 hectares), which is home to over 80 companies employing over 4,000 people. There is a close interaction between these companies and the University. The NTP has been designed to meet the needs of high-technology and knowledge based businesses by providing low density development in a high quality parkland environment.
A thriving music and dance community on campus include the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance and the renowned Daghda Dance Company.

We have negotiated special rates at the Limerick Strand Hotel (4 star hotel in the city centre), the Carlton Castletroy Park Hotel (4 star hotel opposite the entrance to the University) and Kilmurry Lodge Hotel (3 star hotel about 2 km from University of Limerick) In order to get the ECEG-2010 attendee rate it is necessary to book directly with the hotels. | Conference dinner venue | The dinner venue for ECEG 2010 is the landmark Bunratty Castle located in Co.Clare just a short distance from the conference location. Should you wish to bring a guest with you to the conference dinner, please consult the Registration page for details. |
| General information | Limerick city is a vibrant sporting city only 5kms from the campus with interesting museums and galleries, local theatre, lively pubs and restaurants.
The Shannon Region is one of outstanding natural beauty and is an excellent base for exploring many of the well-known sights of the west of Ireland.
